Spiritual Ways

This artwork reflects the spiritual ways in which Aboriginal people have kept alive to ensure that Country is protected, thriving and safe. Sitting together are people ('U' shapes) sharing stories and knowledges about how to care for Country. For thousands of years, Aboriginal people have used traditional L.O.R.E and healing practices to care for the land, passing these knowledges down through generations. It's time to listen to these teachings and care for the land together.

Tidda Girl

This artwork represents the power of womanhood and pays homage to those Sister girls around us. As women, we are strong and courageous, kind and gentle. We can hold our own, fighting for what we believe in. As women we are sometimes seen in a negative light as being “emotional” or “too sensitive”, but these are our strengths. This artwork is about embracing your womanly spirit and encouraging others to do the same.

Barrawal (Ocean)

This artwork is for all our ocean lovers. The lines and patterns reflect the changes in currents and tides from season to season, whilst the 'U' shapes represent people. The circle shape with people sitting around it (bottom right) is a family sharing their love for the ocean. May we all protect and respect Barrawal so that it thrives for many more years to come.

Homeland

This artwork represents home and everything that falls within the idea of home. The 'U' shapes in the centre is a family sitting together while around them, mountains, valleys, rivers and plants are reflected in lines and symbols. The 'U' shapes in the corner represents our ancestors passed. I hope this artwork reminds you of your home and loved ones passed. Always remember that family includes that of the land, waterways, animals, people and plants.

Our Island Home

This artwork represents home and everything that falls within the idea of home. The beautiful blues and light tan colours represent the beaches of Australia. The 'U' shapes are a family sitting together on their Country (their home). Around them, rivers, mountains, animal tracks, trees, plants and valleys can be seen. The white circular images (top right) represent L.O.R.E and Dreaming that guides us throughout our journey of life. Walk on Country with care for it belongs to us all to protect and enjoy.

Our Land

This artwork represents the many Aboriginal Countries within Australia and pays homage to our First Nations Communities. With over 250 Countries that all operate and live differently (Dreaming Stories and L.O.R.E), we are one mob. The different Countries are represented in this artwork in sections. The continuation of colour and patterns reflect our union as one people.

Hawkesbury River

The Dyriabun (Hawkesbury River) is home to the Dharug people - saltwater people. This artwork retells the story of my own people sitting by the river, telling stories of old, fishing, gathering and hunting food. Along with raising their children (the next generation of Dharug people), they passed down knowledges of sacred places, L.O.R.E and dreaming to keep our strong culture alive.

Earth Dreaming

This artwork represents Mother Earth and her Dreaming. Lines form mountains, sandhills and valleys, and below the current (ocean) is reflected with dots and coastal patterns. Above the hills, Earth's Dreaming can be seen (circle shapes). The wavy lines between these indicate that her Dreaming is alive, living, breathing and thriving each day - just like us. We must protect her.

Ochres

This artwork represents the land and different ochres used for ceremony. The Mountain at the bottom reflects the land while the circle in the top left is the sun which brings life to all things. Between these symbols, connections are drawn, tying us together as one.

Buwama (Breathe)

I created this artwork after a busy week full of highs and lows (as life usually goes). To unwind, I decided to release my emotions and let them speak through my art. This artwork had no intended meaning behind symbols or placement, however once completed I realised it had an important message: Buwama (Breathe). When you look at this design, take a moment to ground yourself and breath. Remember that no matter how hard life may be, enjoy it and live it to it’s fullest.

Community Connection

This artwork reflects community connection. In today's era, we often lose sight of how important community connection is - to feel safe, to strive and to form relationships. The central image is a family sitting together, with the wavey lines around them marking their home. Outside the wavey lines, white circles can be seen representing the wider community that the family has formed close connections to.

Hidden Knowledges

This artwork represents spiritual connections through the stories of my Old People/ancestors and spirits (reflected as 'U' shapes sitting together). This artwork retells the hidden messages (the background) to express the idea that these stories and knowledges will always remain, even though they are sometimes hidden and unseen. Let's walk and learn these stories together.

Creative Imagination

This artwork depicts the importance of Creative Imagination. As 1/7 Aboriginal senses, Imagination is of high importance to connect deeply to. The term 'imagination' is often associated with childs-play, however, as we grow into adulthood it's more important to connect with our creative imagination than ever before.

Songlines

Songlines are powerful links that we have traditionally to people, places and knowledges, and have already been established. Today, I believe songlines to be still present as a living thing. This artwork reflects where you have been: the people you've met, the things you have learnt, and represents the story of the person you are today from those experiences. I hope this artwork reminds you to continue to grow your songlines and build your connection to all things on this land.

Sand Stories (Limited Edition)

This limited edition artwork represents the land and how my Old People would use the sand to talk/yarn, and pass on knowledges. The 'U' shapes are people - sitting together with their family and community. The circular shapes with white dots around them represent Aboriginal L.O.R.E and knowledges. The lines around the people reflect the waterways by the sand (rivers and seas). The design is filled with dots and symbols which retell these stories in the sand: their Sand Stories.

My Colours

Time and time again, I was also made to not feel good enough, to change my colours, to conform to an idea of what others wanted me to be. Whether you're feeling unloved, unworthy or alone, I see and hear you. This artwork is dedicated to all those who felt like they weren't good enough. You are. Let your colours shine and look how colourful you are! Your colour(s) make you special, unique and full of life.
